Hooray for San Diego! I know it's quite different and smaller than LA...but I haven't lived there, so I don't really know. But I do love this city and apparently you found LOVE here so that makes it even better! :D

Congrats on the new job as well, and getting one before you moved here. Good luck with all your changes. You sound incredibly happy which is really all that matters :)

I recently invested in a coffe-maker to avoid spending the daily 3.65 (which is usually just a standard cup of coffee, and whatever sugar-filled treat I tell myself I deserve). While I haven't mastered the art of making good coffee I still feel like $25 dollar investment is already paying its dues a week into it. I save gas on driving the extra .75 miles, I save time, and the wallet is getting some much needed rest.
I first started going to Starbucks, because I felt thats what young professionals did. They woke up in the morning dressed and pressed, talked business in line, scrolled through their blackberries in the middle of their order, threw a smile or two at an attractive stranger, and they were on their merry way. I felt it was my way of announcing my place in the "I'm young, attractive, and successful" world... until I realized these little trips were costing me close to $100/month... ouch! .. Not feeling so successful anymore.. (the young and attractive still stands! .. haha!) I decided these meaningless "look at me" trips to get coffee in the morning just wasn't worth it, and I could probably stand cutting back. Now lunch on the other hand - that's a different story. Once noon hits I am CRAVING the mental break. However, I've learned to curb the lunch time appetite by stocking my desk with healthy snacks and saving it for dinner when I have time to make healthy decisions (instead of rushing to the nearest dollar menu!)
Great topics, and FABULOUS references... only because I have a David Bach book that sits on my desk at work... haha, amazing - that is what we are :)

Coffee itself isn't bad for you. It's where most people get antioxidants. It's just the caffeine that gets me. I used to be soooo dependant on caffeine, but went off it last year and am so happy I did. It was totally messing up my sleep habits. Although, I love the taste, so I still drink decaf everyday. :)
